ARRIVAL DAY – KILIMANJARO AIRPORT
Let our 7 night 8 days Tanzania camping safari Begin
On arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, our driver will greet and pick you and transfer you to Arusha city to your allocated accommodation as requested for dinner and overnight. You will get a chance for briefing and introduction about your safari
DAY 1: ARUSHA – TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, you’ll start your safari southwest through Maasai steppe land to Tarangire National Park with picnic Lunchboxes.
You will spend hours for the day game viewing in Tarangire, viewing some of Tanzania’s largest populations of elephants and enjoying the diverse scenery, including the dramatic baobab trees that are so typical of the park.
Picnic Lunch will be served at the picnic site where you will have a nice view of the Tarangire River overlooking down the valley where most of the animals will be gathering drinking from the river.
After Lunch, you will proceed with game drives until the evening when you will start to drive to Karatu for Dinner and Overnight at Kudu Campsites.
DAY 2: TARANGIRE – LAKE MANYARA
The morning after breakfast from Kudu Campsite you head to Lake Manyara. Lake Manyara National Park offers breathtaking views and a large variety of habitats. Acacia woodlands, water forests, baobab strewn cliffs, algae-streaked hot springs, swamps, and the lake itself.
And thanks to this the small Park is able to support a large number of animal species and incredible birdlife. Manyara has the largest concentration of baboons anywhere in the world and the lions here are also renowned for their tree climbing.
Dinner and Overnight at Kudu Campsite
DAY 3: LAKE MANYARA – LAKE EYASI
WALKING TOUR
After breakfast you will head to Lake Eyasi is a very scenic soda lake found on the southern border of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This less visited lake lies at the base of the Eyasi escarpment on the western rift valley wall.
This afternoon you will be introduced to the extraordinary people who belong to an indigenous tribe known as the ‘Hadzabe’ (hunter-gatherer Bushmen). The tribe inhabits the shores of Lake Eyasi as do the Nilotic-speaking Datoga tribe.
You will visit these tribes, which will include a visit to their homesteads, learn about their way of life, animal tracking, medicinal plants, and much more. Some wildlife and a wide range of bird species can be viewed during walks around the lake, which can be arranged.
Dinner and Overnight at Allocated accommodation as requested.
ACTIVITIES DURING LAKE EYASI
- Hadzabe & Datoga Tribes Culture Learning
- Hunting with Hadzabe (optional) and prepared their foods
- How they produce fire by local methods.
- Walking around the Lakeshore (Birds Tour)
DAY 4: LAKE EYASI – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, you head towards the Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see.
You head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species.
We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Dinner and overnight at Seronera Public Campsite
DAY 5: SERENGETI – FULL DAY GAME DRIVE
Be one of only a few fortunate people to glide in a Hot Air Balloon over the Serengeti Plains (available at supplementary cost by pre-arrangement). Floating silently above the awakening bush, while spotting wildlife and enjoying the amazing scenery of Africa, across rivers and over numerous small villages.
After breakfast, you will have a full day game drive with lunch at the lodge. You will follow the Kopjes Circuit, which goes anti-clockwise around the Maasai Kopjes, which usually attract a number of lions and some formidably large cobras. Kopjes are weathered granite outcrops, scattered around the plains, most of which are miniature ecosystems, providing shade and drinking water in pools left in the rock after the rains.
This makes the kopjes particularly good for spotting wildlife in the dry seasons – including lions, which like to lie in wait for animals coming to drink!
Dinner and overnight at Seronera Public Campsite.
DAY 6: SERENGETI – GAME DRIVE SERENGETI PLAINS
After breakfast, you enjoy a full day game drive with lunch at the lodge, along the Sogore River Circuit, which loops into the plains south of the Seronera River, and which is good for possible lion, Thomson gazelle, topi, ostrich, and cheetah sightings.
The visitor’s center not far from the Serengeti Seronera Lodge and public campsites is well worth a visit after the morning’s game drive. This nicely designed center offers some interesting wildlife displays as well as a gift shop selling information leaflets and maps of the area.
The center also has a shop where cold drinks and snacks can be purchased, as well as a picnic area and information trail up and around a nearby kopje.
You will enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch at the center in the shade of the giant acacia trees. Dinner and overnight at Seronera Public Campsite
DAY 7: SERENGETI PALINS – NGOROGORO CRATER
After breakfast at the lodge, the tour will depart to the Ngorongoro Conservation area. You will stop over at Olduvai Gorge, boasting a history dating back to the dawn of time.
It was here, that the anthropologists Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of the ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man’, both very significant links in the chain of human evolution.
Dinner and Overnight at Allocated accommodation as requested.
DAY 7: NGORONGORO CRATER – ARUSHA
After an early breakfast at your lodge, you will head to Ngorongoro crater. You will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife.
Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro conservation Area supports avast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants.
Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot.
You will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos, and other water birds can usually be seen here.
Late afternoon transfer to Arusha For dinner and Overnight or airport drop off.
This marks the End of our 8 Days Tanzania Camping safari
